Lawyer for fraud
In today’s digital world, everyone is increasingly dependent on online services: Online fraud is the order of the day, as lawyer for fraud I can help you. More and more people are becoming victims of online fraud. Whether it is bank helpdesk fraud, CEO fraud or fake investments, dation apps and fake AFMs – the consequences can be disastrous. The AFM regularly warns and points out the signs of fraudsters. As a lawyer, I have experience of fraud in many areas, including a bank’s duty of care in the event of fraud.
What is online fraud?
Online fraud has many faces. Here are a few common forms:
- Help desk fraud at banks: This involves fraudsters posing as employees of your bank. They call you or send you an email claiming something is wrong with your account and ask you to transfer money to a ‘safe’ account. This is often done with great conviction and under pressure, trapping the victims. They are often then asked to install a programme that the fraudsters use to take over the computer.
- CEO fraud: This scam often occurs in companies where the scammers pose as senior executives and ask employees to transfer large sums of money for an ‘important business deal’. These requests look so genuine that many employees fall for it. The e-mail address is often changed slightly. Sometimes employees of the company are also involved in the scam.
- Fake investments: These are fraudulent investment opportunities that promise promising returns. Victims invest their money but later realise that the investment is fake and their money has disappeared.
The consequences of fraud
The financial consequences of online fraud can be huge. Victims can lose thousands of euros in a matter of minutes. I have dealt with cases where victims have lost their entire assets. Besides the financial loss, there is often a lot of emotional damage. The damaged trust makes it difficult for many people to feel safe in the digital world.
How can I help as a fraud lawyer?
If you have become a victim of fraud, it is important to act quickly. Here are some ways I can help you:
- Take action against all banks involved. Speed is of the essence. The fraudsters will try to siphon off the money as quickly as possible.
- File a report: It is important to report the fraud to the appropriate authorities. I can help you prepare a report and ensure that the authorities are notified quickly.
- Check your options to get the money back: In some cases, it is possible to get (part of) your money back. This can be done through banks or payment providers working with fraud protocols, for example. I can check if there are possibilities to get the lost money back, not only from the banks, but also from the fraudsters/fraudsters.
- Assistance with legal proceedings: In some cases, it may be necessary to take legal action against the perpetrators. Here too, I can advise and support you.
